2. TPU Tire Tips ,before you buy it ,please read the folllowing :
1) Why do TPU tires become soft?
Exposure to high temperature environment:
TPU is temperature sensitive. When the ambient temperature continues to exceed 60 ℃ -80 ℃ (depending on the specific formula), the molecular chain movement intensifies, and the material will significantly soften, resulting in a decrease in hardness, an increase in rolling resistance, and a decrease in load-bearing capacity.
Contact with specific chemical solvents:
When encountering oils, strong acids, strong alkalis, or organic solvents (such as certain cleaning agents and lubricants), TPU may swell or chemically degrade, causing the surface to become sticky, soft, or even dissolve.
High humidity hydrolysis:
In long-term high temperature and high humidity environments, some polyester TPU is prone to hydrolysis reactions, which can damage the molecular structure and cause material softening and mechanical property degradation.
2) Why do TPU tires crack?
Low temperature embrittlement impact:
When the temperature is below -20 ℃ to -30 ℃ (near the glass transition temperature), TPU loses its elasticity and becomes brittle. At this time, if it encounters collision, crushing of hard objects or emergency stop, brittle fracture or cracking is highly likely to occur.
Ozone and UV aging:
Long term exposure to direct sunlight (UV) or high concentration ozone environment can cause rubber molecular chains to break, resulting in a network of "cracks" on the surface, which deepen over time until they penetrate.
Dynamic stress fatigue:
Robots frequently start and stop, make sharp turns, or run at high speeds on rough roads, causing the wheels to undergo repeated high-frequency deformation and shear forces, leading to the propagation of internal microcracks and ultimately forming macroscopic cracks.
Abnormal air pressure/load:
Although TPU is mostly solid, if it is an inflatable structure, long-term overloading or low air pressure can lead to excessive bending and stretching of the tire sidewall, accelerating fatigue cracking; Solid wheels may develop traumatic cracks due to local stress concentration (such as hitting the roadside).
3) Preventive advice:
Avoid long-term use in extreme temperatures (>80 ℃ or<-20 ℃) and environments with oil stains and additives.
Regularly clean the wheel surface to prevent the accumulation of dirt and accelerate aging; Store in a dark, dry, and low-temperature environment.
Check the robot's motion logic to reduce unnecessary sudden braking and high-frequency vibration impact.
